Josh Loughman is a strategist, futurist, and researcher whose career traces an unusual arc — from aerospace systems engineering to climate and energy modeling to his current work at the intersection of strategic foresight, decision science, and emerging technology. That breadth is not incidental. It is the methodology.
A career spanning more than two decades has taken him from aerospace systems engineering at Orbital ATK to Futurist-in-Residence at Salt River Project, Director of Modeling and Technology at Climate Interactive — where he led development of the En-ROADS climate simulator used by policymakers worldwide — and most recently Principal Data Scientist at ASU's Decision Theater. He has presented at COP28 in Dubai, contributed to the IPCC Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5°C, and serves as an Expert on the Future of Energy in the World Economic Forum's Expert Network. A two-time Aspen Institute Socrates Fellow, he has been trained in technology roadmapping and foresight at MIT, Stanford, the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies, and the Santa Fe Institute.
Through Encanto Analytics, Josh advises organizations navigating complex decisions about technology, strategy, and the long-range future — bringing systems-level rigor, cross-sector experience, and a deep commitment to making uncertainty more navigable. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Southern Arizona Museum of Science and Technology.
